DMA Makes Changes to Preference Services

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) had made several changes to its Mail Preference Service (MPS).

Effective immediately, the fee for registering online with the MPS has been reduced from $5 to $1. Charging the fee — a credit card verification charge — creates a permanent record of those who did the registering and helps prevent fraudulent registrations.

MPS registrants may also print the online form and send it, along with the registration fee, directly to the DMA. Once registered, consumer names remain active on the service for five years, after which they may register again.

Additionally, the DMA now allows caregivers to register individuals in their care. A separate caretaker registration form is available online. The DMA’s consumer assistance initiatives are available online at www.dmaconsumers.org.
