CADM Names Tempo Award Winners

The Chicago Association of Direct Marketing selected Fathom Communications winner of its “best of the best” President’s Award at its Tempo Awards ceremony. Other honorees included agencies The Marketing Store and Aspen Latino Marketing Services.

All in all, CADM president Scott Reeves presented 34 first-place Tempo trophies, 40 second- and 38 third-place certificate-winners work produced between Oct. 1, 2007, and Dec. 31, 2008

Fathom Communications earned top honors for its International Advantage Customer Loyalty Program, which it designed for International Truck. The program is directed at small-to-medium fleet customers. The entry also won first place for marketing results in the loyalty/frequency marketing category.

Aspen Latino’s citation was recognized for a digital gaming experience it created for Miller Lite. The entry did not earn an award in the general competition.

CADM’s 2009 Jay Gondelman Award for Innovative Achievement in Electronic Direct Marketing was won by The Marketing Store. The Web site the agency developed for Shell rolled out in 2008 as an online and in-station summer promotion, and featured a “Win $2900 Every Day Giveaway”. The entry also took first place for marketing results in the Web Sites category.

This year’s ceremony featured the inaugural bestowing of the Innovation & Excellence in Print Production Award. Its first recipient was Diamond Marketing Solutions, for a fundraising appeal designed to promote longtime giving among young alumni of Creighton University. The entry took a second-prize award for creative achievement in the Nonprofit Direct Mail category.

The Marketing Store won 24 awards overall and eight first-place awards, closely followed by Rodgers Townsend of St. Louis, which received 21 awards overall and seven firsts. Draftfcb won 14 awards overall and five firsts. Fathom Communications won six firsts.

The 38th annual Tempo Awards ceremony was held Wednesday night at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Arts.
