Barnesandnoble.com has invested $20 million in MightyWords. The two companies also made an agreement to distribute MightyWords content through the bookseller’s Web site.
MightyWords contains essays, short stories, movie scripts, research reports and other written material on a variety of subjects that until now has been unavailable to the public because of the limitations of traditional publishing. Some 10,000 pieces have been collected by MightyWords.
Other companies invested some $16 million in the entity. Fatbrain.com, which previously owned MightyWords, will retain a percentage ownership. MightyWords will operate as an independent entity.
