Yormark Leaves NASCAR for NBA

Nets Sports & Entertainment, LLC has hired NASCAR VP-corporate sponsorships Brett Yormark as its new president & CEO.

Yormark will lead the business and marketing operations of Nets Sports & Entertainment, the Net’s parent company. His role includes corporate sponsorships, marketing partnerships and ticket sales. He will also be responsible for developing the business and strategic marketing for a new arena planned for Brooklyn

Yormark, 38, worked for the Nets from 1994 to 1998 as VP-marketing and then as senior VP-corporate marketing before making the move to auto racing. He started with the Nets in 1988 as an account executive, selling broadcast and arena advertising.

With NASCAR, Yormark oversaw the $750 million deal that gave Nextel Communications the naming rights to its premier racing series, as well as a 10-year deal that made Sunoco its Official Fuel Sponsor.
