Thane International Inc. reported a third-quarter net loss of $8.8 million, compared with net income of $4 million a year ago. During the quarter, the fitness, health and beauty products marketer wrote down $6.2 million in receivables, inventory and production costs related to merchandise it no longer sells.
The company also paid $1.4 million to the Canadian government in a settlement agreement. Canada forced Thane to make refunds to Canadian citizens that returned the “Abtronic”
