Web Site Offers Baby Gifts From Around the World

One night a few years ago, a pregnant Andrea McGinty was searching the Web for interesting and unusual items for her soon-to-be-born daughter. She quickly became bored with the similar items she was finding on different sites.

Then it hit her: she would start her own online store to fill what she thought was a vacant niche of unique, stylish and high-quality baby products and gifts.

This wouldn’t be her first entrepreneurial venture. In 1991, she founded It’s Just Lunch (http://www.itsjustlunch.com), a dating service for busy professionals, which became a $50 million business with more than 100 locations worldwide before it was sold off to a private equity group.

She created Babydagny.com, an operation that offers products sourced from small mom and pop shops scattered around the world, including Australia, New Zealand and Europe, as well as the U.S.

The company, headquartered in Palm Desert, CA, promotes itself primarily through search engine marketing and on blogs. On Google, babydagny.com appears first in the paid listings under the keywords “Upscale Baby Products”
