Volkswagen ‘VWIP’ Lounge Stars in All Star Weekend

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

During next month’s NBA All Star weekend, Volkswagen of America, Inc. will unveil a lounge to provide daytime entertainment for guests and residents of the city.

The Volkswagen Important People (VWIP) Lounge, which opens Feb. 17 in Houston, will take over the Cabo, a downtown Houston restaurant. The 8,500 square-foot, two-story lounge will be open to the public from morning to evening, offering a full menu of food and drinks, games, guest DJs, prize giveaways and celebrity appearances at no cost. Throughout the day, the VWIPs will have the chance to win tickets to private parties and events happening around Houston.

Entry into the VWIP lounge is reserved for people over 21 who test drive one of the 10 to 15 new Volkswagen vehicles on site. The new 2006 GTI, having just arrived in the U.S. one week prior, will be ready to run through its paces on the city-block-long, custom-designed closed course, as will 2006 Jetta, Passat, and Touareg models. Any current Volkswagen owner must show his or her car key to enter the VWIP lounge.

The culmination of the weekend will be an invitation-only party to watch the NBA game on Feb. 19. Volkswagen will host a party for celebrities and anyone who won tickets. Hip-hop legend, Biz Markie, will act as the DJ for the event.

Limousine buses wrapped in VW graphics will offer transportation, free of charge, between the VWIP Lounge and the Galleria Mall.
