Visa Launches Secure E-Commerce Initiative

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Visa International, Foster City, CA, announced the Visa Secure e-Commerce Initiative, which the credit card company claims will leverage improved technology and best practices to achieve higher levels of security for e-commerce at both ends of the transactions.

The international initiative includes two major components. The Payment Authentication Program uses a new “3-Domain” model. This model provides options to authenticate only payments, protect the privacy of transmissions, and ensure the transmitted data is uncorrupted. The model will also work with such new payment products and channels as chip cards, mobile phones, personal digital assistants, and set-top boxes. The other component will enhance the protection of transaction data on the marketer’s Web site.
