Virgin Loyalty Program Tops 150,000

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

There’s no sign of the popularity of Virgin Megastores’ loyalty program ceasing anytime soon.

The retailer has signed up 150,000 members, up from 40,000 in February. The program growth comes despite a 15% drop in music sales, Virgin Megastores said.

V.I.P. Loyalty Program members receive two points for every dollar spent at Virgin stores and earn special privileges, including backstage concert passes, discounts and celebrity meet and greets. In addition, shoppers are rewarded with instant-win prizes during transactions and are entered into monthly sweepstakes to win other prizes.

The program uses a card to track buying habits and personal information. Members’ points are updated on the face of the card.

The company launched its first loyalty program last fall, which is available in seven North American stores.
