Vanity, All Is Vanity

WHEN MY WIFE TOLD ME she had entered a subscription in my name for Vanity Fair, I wasn’t at all surprised.

Vanity Fair has spectacular editorial content and always provides impeccable editorial judgment and provocative reading. The magazine is provocative in another direction, too: As seems to be true of too many publications, it penalizes loyal subscribers.

Margo’s subscription was expiring, and the magazine sent her a renewal notice:
