As of Sunday, catalogers, direct marketers and mass mailers will no longer be able to use their wireless telephones to track their mailings through the U.S. Postal Service’s Track and Confirm service.
Postal officials said they decided to end access to those services by wireless devices because there was just not enough use by mailers to justify the operational costs.
Instead, customers will have to access and navigate through the postal service’s Web site to track the progress of their mailings through the Track and Confirm program, double check the Zip code for any address in the U.S. or Puerto Rico, or locate a postal facility.
As a result, they will no longer be able to use Web-Enabled Digital Phones, pagers, and Webmicrobrowsers or other wireless devices to access those services.
