Upromise Narrows Field to 10 Finalists in $25,000 Tuition Contest

More than 250 people have submitted videos in a Upromise contest in the hopes of landing $25,000 toward college tuition.

A panel of judges has narrowed the field to 10 finalists and opened the call for public voting.

Votes can be cast through April 16 at http://www.upromise.com/tuitiontales where the videos include a young man pitching the case for his little sister who has good grades and has won awards. Another shows a girl who wants to start a restaurant called The Ranch because she loves, loves, loves ranch dressing. But, she said, she needs to go to college first to learn everything there is about business.

All voters can play the “Tuition Tales” instant-win game for the chance to win a $50 Bed Bath & Beyond gift card. All 10 finalists receive a $500 Bed Bath & Beyond gift card and the one grand-prize winner receiving the $25,000.

“We were amazed by the creativity of Upromise members’ inspirational tales of their challenges of paying for college,” David Rochon, president of Upromise, said in a statement. “We hope this $25,000 will help make college dreams a reality for a deserving member.”

Upromise launched in 2001 and is a loyalty-reward program that lets consumers earn rebates in a college savings account when they buy participating brands at more than 21,000 grocery and drug stores, 14,000 gas stations, 8,000 restaurants, as well as thousands of retail stores, and more than 575 online shopping sites. The program has more than 8 million members.

Online marketing supports the promotion. EPrize is administering the contest.
