UK Internet Audience Makes a Comeback

According to Nielsen Online, of the 10 countries it tracks, the U.K. experienced the biggest month-to-month boost in its Internet audience in March, while Australia experienced the only decline.

The U.S.’s Internet audience grew modestly to 155.0 million, a 0.78 percent increase from 153.8 million in February.

The U.K. saw the biggest surge in its Internet audience, which grew to 29.6 million users in March, a 6.11 percent increase from 27.8 million in February, according to Nielsen Online.

Italy experienced the second largest boost as its Internet audience grew to 17.7 million, a 5.65 percent increase from 16.7 million in February.

France saw its audience of Internet home users grow to 29.9 million in March, a 3.08 percent increase from 29.0 million in the previous month.

Germany’s Internet audience grew to 37.1 million in March, a 2.85 percent increase from 36.1 million in February.

The number of Internet users in Brazil increased to 25.5 million in March, a 2.62 percent increase from 24.8 million in February. Meanwhile, Japan’s Internet audience grew to 48.9 million in March, a 2.57 percent increase from 27.7 million in the previous month.

Spain’s Internet population grew to 19.3 million in March, a 2.46 percent increase from 18.8 million in February.

Switzerland saw its Internet audience grow slightly to 3.69 million, a 0.70 percent increase from 3.67 million in February.

Australia was the only country to shed Internet users in March, finishing the month with 11.5 million users, a 4.91 percent decline from 12.1 million users in February.

March was a stark contrast from January, when seven of the 10 countries lost Internet users, while the U.S., Switzerland and Australia were the only ones to add users to their Internet population.
