Twitter Acquires Video-Sharing Startup Vine

Twitter birdTwitter has acquired Vine, a New York-based video-sharing company. Though the deal was initially presented as an “acqui-hire,” the pre-launch product still has a chance at launching as a standalone product. Quora users who have tested the iPhone app say Vine lets users create six-second video clips that loop, much like GIFs but with sound. This acquisition will bolster whatever video service plans Twitter has. (The Next Web)
