Trump Trumpets Casino with Reality “Boardroom” Promo

Donald Trump is at it again.

This time he’s got a reality promotion going on in his Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ, where guests are called to the “boardroom” for a one-on-one with Trump, who gives business tips and personal advice. After talking by speaker phone with each of eight contestants, seven will hear those ugly words “You’re Fired” while the last one standing walks away with a useful tool when staying at a casino—cash.

“Survive the Boardroom” will be played multiple times each day through December. A replica of the infamous “boardroom” on Trump’s hit show The Apprentice was designed just off the casino floor near the hotel’s main lobby. Eight hotel guests are randomly chosen and their names are announced and posted on TV monitors throughout the casino. The eight are asked to report to the boardroom.

A personal assistant to Trump, Jerry, greets the guests and gets things started. He dials in Trump, who plays via speakerphone. Trump gets to know the guests, asks each one a gaming-related trivia question about the hotel and then offers some tips and advice before firing the unlucky seven.

The cash prize is $500, however, periodically a contestant can win a $5,000 prize, which Trump announces at the start of the game. The grand finale game will be played on New Year’s Day with Trump himself in person and an increased prize.

The promotion is supported by radio spots in the New York, Philadelphia and New Jersey markets, an extensive billboard campaign, p.r., in-hotel signage and in-house TV screens and the public address system run a video featuring Trump talking about the game. In the gift shop, T-shirts, mugs, key chains and pens carry the tag line: “Survive the Boardroom, It’s not just a Game it’s an Experience.”

Promo Depot, Jacksonville, FL, handled the casting, scripting and set design.
