Toys “R” Us today begins a Million Toy Drive campaign to support the U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots Foundation.
It’s the biggest retailer tie-in ever for the non-profit’s 57-year-old annual holiday collection. Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores become “Giving Headquarters,” where shoppers can donate toys and money to provide holiday gifts for needy kids in each store’s own community. Toys “R” Us will donate a toy for each toy given by consumers.
The campaign begins today with Toys for Tots reps in stores throughout the weekend, collecting gifts and cash. Some stores will host classes to teach kids the importance of sharing with less-fortunate families; celebrity moms Brooke Shields, Jennie Garth and Maria Celeste Arraras will each teach a session, then shop the store for toys to donate. Donations are accepted through Dec. 24.
