Top Facebook Applications

Posted on

According to recent figures noted by Justin Smith at Inside Facebook (and supported by very similar figures posted at Adonomics), Slide, RockYou, and LinkedIn own the top four Facebook applications.

FunWall, developed by Slide, sits atop the list of top Facebook applications in terms of daily active users, boasting 1.6 million users. RockYou’s Super Wall is second with 1.5 million users, followed by Slide’s Top Friends with 1.2 million users. Bumper Sticker, brought to Facebook users courtesy of a few developers at LinkedIn, lays claim to 1.1 million users.

From there, there is a noticeable drop off in the number of users for the other popular applications. Owned, developed by MyYearbook, has a shade under 636,000 users, followed by Serious Business’s Friends For Sale application, which boasts almost 614,000 users.

Texas HoldEm Poker (Zynga – 556,000 users), Are You Interested? (SNAP Interactive – 545,000 users), (Lil) Green Patch (Ashish Dixit and David King – 480,000 users), and Scrabulous (Agarwalla Brothers – 420,000 users) round out the top 10.

Overall, Slide, RockYou, and Zynga are the three largest developers, while Playfish is gaining major steam as it has three out of the top 10 games on the list of the top 50 Facebook apps. Their engagement rate is also 13%, the highest of any big application developer on the list.

These rankings might be shuffled up a bit once Facebook unveils its new look, and things will get even more interesting after the dust has settled. A few smaller applications might be able to climb their way closer to the top more easily than they can now.
