Tivo Terminates Rewards Program

TiVo is ending is TiVo Rewards program in May.

The company, which posted the notice on its Web site, said that through surveys it “discovered new and different ways to involve our fans and keep them more connected to TiVo and other TiVo customers.”

Points can still be earned through April 28 and redeemed for rewards until May 28. After that, all unredeemed points will be forfeited, according to TiVo’s “Frequently Asked Questions” section of the TiVo Rewards site (http://www.tivo.com).

Apart from gaining points for redeemable rewards by using the TiVo-branded MasterCard, TiVo customers can earn 5,000 points for each qualified referral they provided to the service through April 28.

Points can be redeemed for TiVo-branded merchandise, such as coasters, slippers, duffle bags or remote controls and for higher-end items, including an iPod Shuffle, a digital photo frame or digital video recorders. Accrued points cannot be redeemed for cash or service.

While the current program is slated to end on May 28, Tivo is encouraging customers to “stay tuned” for more news in the Tivo Newsletter. A company spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
