The CMO of T-Mobile International, Ulli Gritzuhn, will spend the rest of the year reorganizing the marketing division before departing at year’s end.
Gritzuhn is leaving to pursue new challenges, the company said.
Gritzuhn has been responsible for marketing the T-Mobile brand since December 2004. Before joining T-Mobile, he was the regional VP for Wrigley in Western Europe.
After reorganization, key marketing functions will report directly to T-Mobile’s CEO René Obermann. Various other responsibilities will be distributed among the areas of technology and sales. The reorganization will enable T-Mobile to focus on the development of new services and products, the company said.
Last month, the company scaled back on sales and earnings projections for 2006 and 2007. The company’s second-quarter results also showed lackluster performance in Germany where it is based, according to Reuters.
“Under the leadership of Ulli Gritzuhn we have made major progress in brand orientation and brand development,” Obermann said in a statement. “In the last two years we have been able to introduce internationally trendsetting offers…and the brand image has been enhanced”
