SugarCRM has appointed Yun-Ping Hsu general manager of its China operations. In this role, Hsu will lead the expansion of SugarCRM’s Asia headquarters in Shanghai.

Hsu joined SugarCRM in 2005 as VP of engineering. Before joining SugarCRM, Hsu was VP of engineering and worldwide support at BroadVision, where he guided the design and development of BroadVision’s Commerce, eMarketing, Portal and Process products.

China has played an integral role in SugarCRM’s growth since the company’s founding in 2004. China has been consistently ranked as one of the top five countries in terms of active SugarCRM systems and community involvement with SugarCRM.

“Yun-Ping has over 20 years of experience in software management, and a proven track record of successfully building strong teams,” said John Roberts, CEO of SugarCRM, in a statement. “He brings the business skills and cultural knowledge to help SugarCRM expand rapidly in one of the world’s most vibrant markets.”

In the statement announcing Hsu’s appointment, SugarCRM cited a study by Springboard Research that claimed CRM adoption in Asia is expected to grow from $69 million in 2006 to over $460 million by 2010.
