Stop & Shop Offers New Englanders Gas Discounts

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Stop & Shop is giving New England customers extra savings at the gas pump tied to their weekly grocery shopping.

People can earn per-gallon rewards when they buy their groceries at most Stop & Shop outlets. The gas rewards are automatically calculated and applied when they go to the pump using their Stop & Shop cards.

For each dollar spent on groceries, consumers earn one point. For 50 points earned on their grocery purchases, consumers receive a 10 cent reduction the next time they gas up at Stop & Shop. The gas rewards are good for up to 60 days from the date of grocery purchases. Some grocery items do not accrue rewards.

“Our new gas savings program makes it easy for consumers to save by doing something they already do—their weekly grocery shopping,” said Andrea Astrachan, consumer advisor for Stop & Shop.

The new program augments a 5-cent per gallon discount that Stop & Shop card holders already receive at the pump with every $50 in-store purchase.

On a similar tack, through a partnership with Christy’s stores on Cape Cod, Stop & Shop customers can earn a 20-cent discount on gas after purchasing at least $50 or more in groceries at participating Christy’s outlets.
