Staples Swaps Coupons for Old Office Products

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Staples is offering customers coupons in exchange for old staplers and hole-punches.

It’s all part of a recycling program the retailer is running to drive sales of its One-Touch products.

People who bring in the used items through Jan. 19 will receive a coupon toward Staples’ One-Touch line products: $4 off a Staples One-Touch stapler and $8 off Staples One-Touch Three-hole punch.

All old staplers and hole punches will be disassembled and reprocessed into office products, Staples said.

“Staples is always looking for new and creative ways to build brand loyalty with our customers,” said Dan Wegiel, a vice president of merchandising at Staples. “The trade-in event is an ideal way for us to increase awareness of our One-Touch family of products while supporting the environment.”

The program offers one coupon per person at all of Staples U.S. locations.

“Coupons make is easy for our customers to find great deals on products and services they need and helps to increase customer loyalty and attract new Staples customers, Wegiel said.

The incentive is part of Staples ongoing commitment to help customers make a difference on the environment. As part of its EcoEasy initiative, the retailer offers recycling services and sells recycled products.

Staples is using circulars, direct mail and e-mail, in-store signage and radio ads in select markets to promote the offer.
