Staples Promotional Products CEO to Retire

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Roger Henry, the CEO of Staples Promotional Products, is retiring after nearly three decades with the company.

Henry, who has been president since 1995 and the firm’s CEO since 2003, will leave his post at the end of the month. Richard Witaszak, who was promoted to general manager, will lead the business, the company said.

During Henry’s tenure, the company evolved from a domestic apparel manufacturer to one the largest distributor of promotional products in North America, the firm said. Henry started his career with Swingster in 1980. In 1998, when the company bought K-Products, the company later changed its name to American Identity.

In 2007, Staples Corp. acquired American Identity. The business name was changed once again, this time to Staples Promotional Products in 2008. The company carries various items that can contain a logo, including apparel, headwear, bags and writing instruments.

“American Identity, now known as Staples Promotional Products, has been one of the best acquisitions in the history of Staples in great part due to Roger’s incredible leadership and the remarkable team that he developed over time,” Jay Baitler, executive vice president of Staples’ advantage division, said in a statement. “His legacy will always remain in the culture he created, and we wish him all the best in the future.”
