Sony Pictures used a Super Bowl spot to preview its “Year One” comedy and boost a sweepstakes for the run-up to the film’s summer debut.
Super Bowl fans had a chance to see a trailer from the movie about lazy hunter-gatherers, played by Jack Black and Michael Cera, who are banished from their pre-historical village to forage for themselves. The spot also plugged a micro-site where moviegoers could view a movie trailer, trace their ancestral roots on one of six continents and register to win a trip to a city in that region.
The grand-prize winner of the “Year One’s Meet Your Ancestors Sweepstakes,” to be selected at random, will receive free round-trip airfare and five nights to one of six destinations: Las Vegas, NV; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; London, England; Cairo, Egypt; Tokyo, Japan; or Sydney, Australia.
