SITE Unveils New Strategic Plan

The Society of Incentive & Travel Executives (SITE) has approved a new two-year strategic plan to help guide the association and shape the future of the incentives industry.

The plan, unveiled this month, consists of three main objectives. The top priority includes matching the organization’s goals with those of its nearly 1,800 members.

Over the next two years, the plan calls to raise global awareness of the effectiveness of performance improvement programs and boost SITE as an industry leader; enhance the organization’s value to its members; and promote business-to-business opportunities among members, future contributors and strategic alliances.

The strategic plan will help make SITE “even stronger” in its approach,” SITE CEO Brenda Anderson said. The objectives will help the organization open new doors to provide incentive industry players more value and growth, she added.

“It really keeps us focused,” Anderson said of the strategic plan. “Everything we do we will now make sure ties into our three initiatives. With the market changing so quickly the way it is right now, organizations really need to be nimble. You need to be able to respond quickly, and this strategic plan will allow us to do that.”

To help achieve the goal of enhancing member value, SITE is considering plans to open new regional offices, Anderson said. With nearly 1,800 members across 83 countries, SITE already is well represented globally, but the organization wants to build on its presence even more, she said.

SITE’s members have backgrounds in the airline, cruise line, incentive house, hotel and resort, travel agency, restaurant and tourist organization industries. The Chicago-based organization was founded in 1973.

The strategic plan marks the first for the Chicago-based organization since the 1990s.
