Shopko, a retailer selling family basics, casual apparel and seasonal products, with an emphasis on health product, is rolling out two incentive-based programs that offer special prices and additional discounts for customers.

Under the My Shopko Rewards program, the discount retailer is offering the My Extra Savings loyalty program and the My Shopko Rewards Visa co-branded credit card program.

My Extra Savings offers discounts on a combination of advertised items and in-store specials, the company said. With the co-branded Visa credit card, cardholders earn a $10 coupon for every 1,000 points they earn. Points can be earned by using the card on a variety of purchases.

For example, customers will receive three points for each dollar spent in the store, two points for family lifestyle purchases like dining, movies or entertainment and one point for each dollar spent on other items.

The program began Aug. 5. Within two days of its launch, more than 40,000 people signed up for the offering, Jack Mullen, senior vice president of marketing for Shopko, said. Newspaper inserts, TV spots and online marketing support the program

Shopko Stores Operating Co., LLC is an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. The company operates more than 135 stores in 13 states with annual sales exceeding $ 2.2 billion.
