Select Comfort Income Drops

Select Comfort Corp. posted net income of $11.9 million for the third quarter, a decrease from net income of $13.9 million in the prior year.

The bedding direct marketer and retailer reported net sales of $213.1 million for the quarter ended Sept. 19, a 3% increase over net income of $207.7 million last year.

The Minneapolis company posted a 15% drop in direct marketing sales and a 30% increase in online sales for the quarter.

Select Comfort Corp. posted net income of $10.8 million for the fourth quarter, a 32% drop from net income of $15.8 million in the prior-year period.

The direct marketer and retailer reported net sales of $198 million for the quarter ended Dec. 30, a 6% increase over net sales of $187.5 million last year.

The Minneapolis company attributed these results to a $4.2 million asset impairment charge associated with its purchase of an enterprise resource planning system.
