Searchme, Inc. has launched a beta version of a new search engine. The new service, also called Searchme, delivers results as a browsable stack of “pages” — pictures of actual web pages that users can check out before visiting them.
Searchme also suggests categories to users as they type in search terms, providing shortcuts to the best results. As a user starts typing, category icons appear that relate to the search. The word “bonds”, for example, would bring up “savings” or “stocks” or “baseball”, among others.
Until Searchme is out of beta, potential users can request an invitation to participate at www.searchme.com.
“Searchme’s interface takes advantage of the size and bandwidth of today’s Internet and the increasingly visual way that we all interact online,” said Randy Adams, Searchme’s CEO.
