Search Users Try, Try Again

Who says there’s no loyalty anymore?

The new Search Engine User Behavior Study by search marketing firm iProspect and Jupiter Research reveals that those who fail on an attempted search most often try again using more complex query terms, rather than switching off and trying the same keyword search on a different engine.

But don’t test users’ patience too much. The same report found that 41% consider a search to have failed if they don’t find the links they’re looking for on the first results page. That compares with 28% who said the same in a 2002 version of the survey.
