Burger King has completed a cause-marketing overlay to its holiday tie-in with The Rugrats Movie. A portion of sales from Rugrats watches in BK restaurants are being donated to the American Red Cross and The United Way to aid hurricane relief efforts in Central America and the Caribbean.
“With our world headquarters in Miami so close to the devastated areas, it’s a great opportunity for Burger King to be a good neighbor and strongly support the recoveryefforts,” says vp-marketing services Richard Taylor in a statement.
As part of the promo, BK sold a series of four watches for $1.99 with purchase of a Value Meal or Kids Club Meal, and gave away 12 toys as Kids Club Meal premiums. BK also put Rugrats-shaped Chicken Tenders on its Great Tastes menu. Alcone Marketing, Irvine, CA, handled BK Kids Club promos. TV also supported the effort via Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York. The Rugrats Movie is produced by animation studio Klasky Csupo, with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.
