Premiums Makers Rally Against California Law

Posted on

Makers of glassware premiums are readying a push to support new federal legislation that would ease pressure on marketers in California.

Glassware suppliers are hoping a federal bill, the National Uniformity for Food Act (S. 3128), will supercede California’s 20-year-old Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (Proposition 65) that has been enforced more aggressively in recent years, curbing marketers’ ability to use drinking glasses and other food containers as premiums. The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on the national bill in September.

Promotional Products Association International is urging promotional products suppliers to contact their U.S. senators to support the federal bill. Irving, TX-based PPAI will host an hour-long Web seminar on the topic on Aug. 16.
