Post-it Notes Contest Seeks Unique Uses

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

3M is partnering with YouTube and Google to launch a video contest to search for the most creative uses of its Post-it Notes.

Visitors to http://www.youtube.com/postitnotes can create a video up to two minutes in length showing the Post-it Notes used in a unique way and upload it to the site.

Post-It already has 1 million uses, everything from self-reminding to planning and brainstorming, the company said. But the firm wants to hear about others. The person that creates the one-in-a-million idea will win $10,000.

Entries, which will be accepted through July 14, will be judged based on creativity and originality, demonstration of effective use of the product, appropriateness of content and overall impression. Every person who enters will receive a free trial of Post-it Digital Notes to use with computers.

A panel of judges will select 10 finalists in August, each of whom will receive a laptop valued at $1,000. Consumers can vote for their favorite video from Sept. 2-23.

One grand-prize winner gets $10,000 and his or her video will be featured as America’s No. 1 Choice on http://www.Post-it.com and on the Post-it Notes YouTube Channel for three months. The second- and third-place winners receive $2,500 and $1,500, respectively.

Online marketing supports the promotion, which is being handled in-house by YouTube, Google and the 3M Post-it Brand. Marden-Kane administers the contest.
