Over the weekend, dogs got a real treat. PetSmart celebrated National Ice Cream Day with free Doggie Ice Cream Sundaes at all PetSmart PetsHotel locations.
The sundaes were vanilla soft serve topped with dog biscuit sprinkles—a treat regularly offered at the hotels as an add-on service for a pet visit.
This is the second year PetSmart has celebrated the holiday and added a new twist this year. Last Thursday, a Doggie Ice Cream Truck parked at New York City’s NYC’s Washington Square Park at noon. The park is often filled with dog walkers and their pet parents got a treat too—free ice cream (for humans!).
Some pet celebrities were on hand, including @Tinkerbellethedog, who is an actor, model and fashionista with nearly 77,000 followers on Instagram.
PetSmart is encouraging pet parents to share photos and videos of the events on Instagram using the hashtag #treatyourpup as part of the PetSmart Treat Your Pup Sweepstakes. The sweeps offers chances to win PetSmart prize packs like coupons for PetsHotel services including doggie day camp and salon grooming services and doggie treats.
