Thanks to the popularity of its U.S. sweepstakes, U.K.-based software maker Oracle has launched a version of the promotion to allow developers from select countries in Europe and Africa to participate.
The winners of the Oracle Space Sweepstakes will have the opportunity to take a suborbital spaceflight to experience weightlessness and view the earth from 100 kilometres (62 miles) above its surface. The flight is made available through partner Space Adventures, Ltd., Arlington, VA.
Oracle is also giving away two Apple PowerBooks, five Apple iPods and 10 Star Wars trilogy DVD sets.
Participants can register at Oracle.com/space and complete online quizzes that are based on specific software developer topics. Participants will also test Oracle JDeveloper 10g, Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J) 10g, Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10g and Oracle TopLink 10g in connection with the sweepstakes quizzes. The sweepstakes ends on May 31 in the U.S and June 30 for players in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Sweden and the U.K.
