A ZenithOptimedia study has revealed projections for global ad spending in 2015, with online advertising estimated to grow 15 percent over the next two years, fueled by mobile and display ads.
Search Engine Journal covered the new data this week, which includes the figure that online advertising makes up 24 percent of total global ad spend, compared to four percent of global ad spending a decade ago. The decline of newspaper and magazine advertising can be attributed to this boost.
According to the report, mobile will be a big driver of growth in global ad spend in the future, and is expected to account for 51 percent of all new advertising dollars between 2014 and 2017. The ubiquity of mobile devices, combined with innovations in ad technology, is said to drive mobile advertising to grow by 38 percent a year between 2014 and 2017
