Office Depot Runs Snow Globe Game
Office Depot is out with an interactive holiday promotion that offers the chance to win daily prizes, including computers, digital cameras and gift cards.
The retailer is targeting consumers and small-business customers with its Gift-of-the-Day Instant-Win Game and a holiday-themed Web site.
To play, people register at http://www.giftofthedaygiveaway.com through Dec. 23 to “shake” an online snow globe to reveal a prize. Visitors can choose the type of weather in the globe: flurries, shower or blizzard. Once the snow settles, a prize will appear for people who have won. Non-winners receive a message asking them to play again.
Daily prizes include Gateway computers, MP3 players, digital cameras and HDTVs. Office Depot is also awarding 24 randomly selected winners each day with $10 gift cards.
Visitors can also play the online game “Snowball Standoff” and take on the sarcastic Stanley the Reindeer in a snowball fight. And people can create a holiday wish list of their favorite gifts to send to their friends and family, and sign up for prize reminders from the game.
Office Depot sent an e-mail to millions of its customers to promote the game, company spokesperson Jason Shockley said. Direct mail pieces, banner ads in Google’s AdSense and online ad http://www.officedepot.com also support the promotion.
