Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Nokia has signed a multi-year marketing alliance with the men’s and women’s National Basketball Associations and to be the official mobile phone of the professional basketball leagues. The new alliance marks the first time fans in the U.S. will receive daily video content from a major sports league to their wireless phones.

Nokia will showcase its products to the leagues’ fans through NBA and WNBA media and game telecasts including NBA TV, themed TV commercials, grassroots events, a customized content section on NBA.com, team alliances, and a presence within the NBA’s Hispanic-focused television, Internet and event initiatives.

Nokia will use these properties to promote its mobile and video-enabled phones that will soon feature NBA game highlights, news, scores, embedded content, logos and special behind-the-scenes access video.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
