Nickelodeon Promotes ‘La Casa de Dora’ Mall Tour

Dora the Explorer is the
No. 1 preschool show
for Hispanic children

Nickelodeon is bringing its
Dora the Explorer character to life through a 10-city mall tour and traveling exhibit La Casa de Dora, giving fans a chance to experience
Dora’s interactive, bilingual home first-hand.

The La Casa de Dora is a 2,000 square-foot Latin American-inspired exhibit that features several rooms under a terracotta tiled roof and a courtyard. Each section contains play and problem solving activities with bilingual elements. In the “backyard,” preschoolers can listen to Latin music, play computer games on NickJr.com, dance on an interactive dance mat and meet the Dora costumed character.

Nickelodeon created the tour to embrace Latin culture and give preschoolers a chance to experience Dora’s home.

The exhibit, which is free, will stop at malls in 10 markets nationwide on weekends through May. The tour kicked off Feb. 19 and 20 at the Southwest Plaza in Denver. Stops are also planned in San Francisco, Lost Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, New York, Albuquerque, Miami and Chicago.

TV spots, print materials and Internet materials support.

In addition, NickJr.com will launch a special “La Casa de Dora” Web site for preschoolers and parents this month, which will include games with bilingual elements to reflect the exhibit’s cultural and educational activities. The site will extend the exhibit experience. Nick Jr. Family Magazine will also produce a custom publication called La Casita, which will be distributed to families at each “La Casa de Dora” location.

Dora the Explorer is a play-along, animated series starring Dora, a seven-year-old Latina girl whose adventures occur in a tropical world. The series airs at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. weekdays on Nick Jr. and weekends on CBS.
