Maynard, MA, has hired Gillette veteran Carole Johnson as senior VP-marketing, overseeing advertising, promotions, sponsorships (including the Olympics and Super Bowl), customer relationship management, direct marketing and p.r. One of her first tasks is to conduct an ad agency review. Johnson had been VP-business services for Gillette’s commercial operations for North America, and worked for Boston-based Gillette for 22 years. (No word on whether the job was posted on Monster.com.)

KIRIN BREWERY CO.: last weekend began selling Maroyaka Kobo Hanakaori, a bottled beer at convenience store chain operator, Seven-Eleven Japan Co. The move is part of Kirin’s plan to sell new types of beer and low-malt beverages through convenience store operators. Next week, Kirin plans to market new brand, Kirin Honey Brown, a malt beverage, in a tie-up with convenience store operator Lawson, Inc.

ROCKAWAY BEDDING: Randolph, NJ, and online reseller goZing Cellular, Encino, CA, join the Gold Points Reward Network run by Carlson Marketing Group, Minneapolis. The seven-year-old loyalty program—an electronic incarnation of the classic Gold Bond Stamp Co. program begun in 1938—has more than 2,000 marketing partners.
