NEW LINE CINEMA: is building buzz around its new movie, Hoot, and awareness for wildlife needs offering a free a Hoot Desktop pet. The desktop pet can be downloaded from HootMovie.com. The animated owl will respond to commands and take up residence on consumers’ screens. Consumers who adopt a desktop pet can register their pet adoption and will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for a trip for four to Florida, tickets to a Jimmy Buffet concert and the chance to meet Brie Larson, the star of Hoot. The National Wildlife Federation will receive a donation from New Line Cinema for the adoption program. Hoot, which details the story of a young man’s quest to protect endangered owls, is slated for released May 5.

HEAVYBAG MEDIA: has appointed Geoff Brenna to the interactive agency’s newly created position of marketing director, effective March 13. In his new role, Brenna oversees new business acquisition, client relations and sales support for the overall company, including Heavybag’s mobile content subsidiary, Robotube Games. He reports to Dennis Peters, co-founder and CCO. Brenna previously worked at VH1, where he implemented cable affiliate marketing programs for the network.

FREMANTLEMEDIA LICENSING WORLDWIDE: has appointed Jack Alfandary as VP-licensing and new business development effective immediately. In this newly created position, Alfandary oversees sponsorship, licensing and digital activity throughout Latin America and Spanish speaking USA for key FremantleMedia brands including American Idol, The Apprentice, The Price Is Right and upcoming Latin American and Brazilian local versions of the Idols format, Latin American Idol and Idolos Brazil. In addition, Alfandary manages the company’s new business development initiatives in South and Latin America. Alfandary, who joined Fremantle Media in January 2004, is based in Miami.
