STARBUCKS: has named Cliff Burrows president of Starbucks Coffee U.S. The post takes effect March 12. Burrows currently works as president of Starbucks’ Europe, Middle East and Africa divisions. He succeeds Launi Skinner, who resigned to spend more time with her husband, the company said. Burrows began working at Starbucks in 2001 as vice president and manager director of the U.K. division. In that role, he helped to more than double the number of stores in the market. Starbucks’ the EMEA team will report to Jim Alling, president of Starbucks Coffee International, until a new president is named.

JCPENNEY: has named independent Vidal Partnership as its lead ad agency to handle its U.S. Hispanic business. Duties will include providing strategic counsel to reach Hispanic consumers through marketing initiatives, including customer research, advertising, media planning and buying and national event campaigns designed to position the retailer as the preferred department store for the Hispanic community, the company said. Omnicom Group’s Dieste Harmel & Partners previously held the account.
