New York Yankees Sign Fujifilm

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. last week signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with the New York Yankees that includes signage at Yankee Stadium, event sponsorship and the use of the team’s logo.

Fujifilm’s agreement gives it signage behind the on-deck circles and to be part of the rotating signage behind home plate. The deal makes Fujifilm the title sponsor for Yankee Stadium Tours and the presenting sponsor of the 2004 Old Timers’ Day events, Fujifilm spokesman Andrew LaGuardia said.

The deal also allows Fujifilm to use the Yankees’ insignia on packaging and in retail promotions.

Rival company Eastman Kodak had signage on Yankee Stadium’s right field wall the past few seasons, but the company ended its sponsorship in 2003. However, LaGuardia noted that Fujifilm’s deal is separate and that it is not a replacement for Kodak.

LaGuardia said Fujifilm could possibly partner with the Yankees on other events, including a Photo Day event with more than a dozen Major League baseball teams. That event allows fans at the game to meet and greet players and have photos taken with them.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Fujifilm currently is a sponsor of the F.A. Premier League’s Manchester United, U.S. Open Tennis and FIFA World Cup Soccer.
