NBA Relaunches NBAStore.com with Sweepstakes

The National Basketball Association is offering fans a shot at sweepstakes prizes to support the relaunch of its online store NBAStore.com.

The sweepstakes covers $10,000 worth of prizes, with a grand prize of Spalding’s new “Beast” 60-inch glass portable backboard system to be delivered by former NBA star Clyde Drexler. Drexler will also drop off a rack of Spalding NBA game balls and NBA practice apparel.

People enter “Drexler’s Slam Dunk Delivery” sweeps by making a purchase on NBAStore.com through Jan. 15. They also have a shot at winning secondary prizes, including a four-game NBA video game package, a $500 shopping spree in the online store and one of 50 $150 NBAStore.com gift cards.

“The relaunch of the site is timed for the start of the holiday shopping season,” said NBA spokeswoman Kristin Conte.

New graphics, including video clips of NBA stars, are intended to make browsing more appealing on the site. The online store now offers a larger selection of NBA products than it previously carried, enlarged views of products and navigation links organized by teams and product categories.

Fans can also opt to receive e-mails about special online offers.

Winners will be announced in January. Drexler will deliver the grand prize at a date yet to be determined later in the current season. Ten winners will also get a phone call from Drexler to thank them for participating in the promotion.

The NBA is promoting the relaunch through banner ads and links from other Web sites. Drexler also made appearances on ESPN and other media outlets last week to promote the online store’s relaunch.
