Morris the Cat Gives Adoption Tour a Second Life

9Lives is revving up for the second leg of its national tour that has prompted 100,000 cat adoptions in its first five months.

The tour, called Morris’ Million Cat Rescue, resumes this week after a holiday hiatus. Morris and the tour crew will visit another 23 cities through spring after touring 11 cities last fall.

The 36-foot tour bus houses an adoption center, showcasing cats from local shelters near each tour stop. A “Cat’s-Eye View” display lets passers by watch the cats play; a quiet room inside the bus lets potential pet owners interact with a cat they’re considering adopting.

A separate section offers pet-care advice and spay/neuter clinics. Some tour stops also host an inflatable obstacle course for kids, designed like a cat playground. A photo and video display of Morris himself showcases his career as 9Lives’ spokescat.

The tour stays in San Francisco, parent Del Monte’s hometown, through Feb. 19, then travels to major markets including Sacramento, Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, St. Louis, Washington, DC, New York City, and Philadelphia. RedPeg Marketing, Alexandria, VA, handles the tour.

9Lives also is distributing tour-branded “Welcome Home Kits” through 3,600 animal shelters nationally. The brand donates a portion of all sales to rescue shelters.
