Marcelita Launches Corporate Gift Program

When it comes to corporate gifts, there’s nothing better than cookies as a reward or thank you.

Enter Marcelita’s Cookies, a family business that makes and distributes Hispanic gourmet cookies. The company recently launched an online corporate gift program to help companies thank customers for their business.

Firms can reward clients or recognize hardworking employees with a monthly gift of 12 Marcelita’s Cookies containing one dozen cookies. Each cookie is individually wrapped and each box includes a personalized thank you note. Orders can be placed online at http://www.marcelitascookies.com.

“The days of giving very expensive gifts are passing away,” Juan Ramirez, president of Marcelita’s Cookies, LLC, said. “Companies have a limited amount of money. So, cookies make a good gift. Anyone can relate to cookies.”

Marcelita’s Cookies unveiled its corporate gift program this week at an event at the Minneapolis Convention Center to coincide with the Republican National Convention, which runs through tomorrow. The company, which has been in business for about a year, has been testing cookies as corporate gifts for several months before launching the option this spring.

“We started to realize there is quite a market in corporate gifting,” Ramirez said. “There is such a universal acceptance of cookies.”

And so far, business is off to a good start. Marcelita Cookies has shipped more than 8,000 cookies as part of its consumer and corporate gift programs since the first quarter of the year, Ramirez said.

Food corporate gifts makes up about one-third or $2.5 billion of the overall corporate gift market in the U.S., according to research firm Packaged Facts.

The new program comes as a result of market research findings, Ramirez said. When focus groups were asked for the most important features of buying gourmet food gifts online, the top five responses were: unique and quality product, on-time shipping, attractive and upscale packaging, convenience of shopping and price.

Marcelita’s Cookies is supporting the program via e-mail marketing, PR, Radio spots and online marketing.
