Macerich Malls Offer Interactive Santa Tracking Stations

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Macerich shopping centers are giving kids a helping hand this year to keep track of Santa’s annual journey.

Seven retail centers nationwide have opened a Santa Tracking Station, an interactive exhibit. There, shoppers can take photos using green screen technology that puts them in a sleigh flying over famous landmarks. The exhibit also teaches visitors about the 52-year-old tradition of tracking Santa’s journey by the military’s North American Aerospace Defense Command.

The station is available in mall properties in San Bernardino, CA, Lakewood, CA, Cerritos, CA, Los Angeles, Grand Junction, CO, Danbury, CT, and Freehold, NJ. The Becker Group handles the experience for Macerich.

Online at http://www.santatrackingstation.com visitors can send e-mail letters to Santa, chat with Oliver D. Elf and play online games.

“The Santa Tracking Station is an innovative way to enhance our guests’ shopping experience during the holidays,” said Susan Valentine, senior vice president, consumer experience at Macerich, in a statement.

In-mall signage supports the effort.
