Over 10,000 visitors attended the International Direct Marketing Fair in London last week.

The show featured 249 exhibitors, many of whom were upbeat about the state of DM in the U.K.

“Last year I felt that a lot of people were huddled in the bar commiserating with each other,” said exhibitor David Small of ICE3. “The feeling this year is far more optimistic.”

DM agency LBM reported doing about $108,000 USD worth of business on the first day of the fair, while data processing firm Direct Data Capture expected to pick up approximately $180,200 USD in business post-show.

The winners of the Stand Awards were: Best Use of Space, Gryf Direct; Best Promotional Presence, ETS Insert Control; Most Memorable Stand, BCA Media Sales; and Best Stand, Capscan Ltd.

Winners of the DM Business New Product Awards were: first place — D&B for MarketDirect, offering online access to the most extensive business coverage in Europe; second — QAS for QuickAddress DataWorld, delivering 70 datasets through single product integration; and third — Dynmark International for ‘e-txt’, a product allowing users to manage SMS like e-mail.
