Dave Lewis, vice president of market and product strategy for e-mail technology provider StrongMail has resigned to take a position at another unnamed company, Direct has learned.

The move was announced to StrongMail’s staff yesterday.

When asked in an e-mail exchange where he’s going, Lewis declined to say.

“It may be a few months before I’m at liberty to divulge my destination,” he wrote. “The company prefers to keep this new part of their business under wraps for now.”

He added: “I can tell you what it’s not. It’s not an e-mail service provider or one of the other players you’d traditionally associate with the e-mail marketing space.”

Lewis is an active member of the e-mail marketing industry and regularly writes opinion pieces for various trade publications and speaks on panels at conferences.

He said his new position will allow him to continue those activities.
