*Letters to the Editor LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Re: Loose Cannon: Your Tax Dollars Subsidize Bad Airline CRM (DIRECT Newsline, Oct. 27, 2002):

* Love your idea of the airlines needing to meet a high threshold of customer satisfaction to qualify for federal funds. I have flown well over a million miles the last 10 years and encountered many instances of poor attitudes and disrespect of many airline employees toward customers. They have a total screw you attitude and could care less if you report them or vow to no longer fly that airline. Unfortunately this situation seems to exist at all airlines except Southwest.

* Amen Richard! Too many folks in DC are more than willing to hand out taxpayer dollars w/o consulting with the “donors” of the funds.

If the airline industry suffers because more people prefer to take a train/bus/car, so be it!

* Right on the money. I was also appalled to learn that Fedex and UPS, among others, got bailout money after 9-11. What about the people who lost their jobs as a result of 9-11, who still are struggling a year later. What bailout do they get to save their homes, and feed their families?

I’m forwarding your comments to my congressmen.

* Good job. Hopefully someone in the government will read it and steal your idea.
