NO COMPLAINTS, PLEASE

After reading the recent article on the Alan Drey closure (List Report, DIRECT, Nov. 1), we find it interesting to note that Mr. [Lee] Kroll is begrudging these people from obtaining employment in the direct marketing industry.

I do not recall Mr. Kroll complaining about 10 years ago, when CAMA ceased active operations, and he hired most of their brokers. Wonder what happened over the past decade to change his mind.

Why is it that in our industry we can easily accept a bankruptcy notice from a mailer/list owner? However, when it happens to a broker and/or manager, everyone is up in arms. Bad debt is a part of any industry and any business. You just have to monitor your situation accordingly.

I don’t usually read DIRECT, but my boss recently forwarded me Beth Negus Viveiros’ Op-ed piece
